Dear reader,
On this wet Sunday in the Greater Vancouver area, I thought I would post photos of two birds commonly seen in this part of the world: Mallards and Nortwestern Crows. Both were taken yesterday, when it was actually sunny and quite windy – we even had waves on our beaches (this may not sound like much for most of you, but it is almost a newsworthy event in these parts).

Lovely crow shot! It can be hard to get so much nice detail on an all-black bird like that.

Thanks. And the detail is indeed quite good… these are the clearest shots of this very common bird that I have managed so far. The lighting was absolutely perfect and it didn’t hurt that I had grass in the background (instead of pale sand or bright sky, for instance).

Lovely! It’s important to appreciate the common as much as it is the unique!

That’s right, especially when they are that photogenic!
