A couple of common birds…

Dear reader,

On this wet Sunday in the Greater Vancouver area, I thought I would post photos of two birds commonly seen in this part of the world: Mallards and Nortwestern Crows. Both were taken yesterday, when it was actually sunny and quite windy – we even had waves on our beaches (this may not sound like much for most of you, but it is almost a newsworthy event in these parts).

  1. Lovely crow shot! It can be hard to get so much nice detail on an all-black bird like that.

    • Thanks. And the detail is indeed quite good… these are the clearest shots of this very common bird that I have managed so far. The lighting was absolutely perfect and it didn’t hurt that I had grass in the background (instead of pale sand or bright sky, for instance).

  2. Lovely! It’s important to appreciate the common as much as it is the unique!

    • That’s right, especially when they are that photogenic!
