Random bird post: Common Goldeneye

I thought I would post a photo of a Common Goldeneye taken in Stanley Park. This pose is fairly typical of the males of the species found on Lost Lagoon. They do this when the first approach a person on the shore who looks like they might feed them. They usually swim off rather rapidly when they realize that I really do not like to feed wild animals. I took this picture a few weeks ago, during the Stanley Park Ecology Society bird count.
