Red-winged Blackbird

I took this photo of a singing male Red-winged Blackbird a few days ago, next to the pond in Devonian Park in Vancouver (not far from Stanley Park). This individual is quite impressive with its jet-black plumage. And as you can see, it was quite a beautiful day (the weather is still fine!).

    1. Funny you should say that: I only really started appreciating how beautiful they are when I combined two of my passions (photography and birding). And not only like this male’s striking black/red/yellow combination, but the understated female also, not to mention the immature or molting male.
