Two juvenile White-crowned Sparrows

This photo of two juvenile White-crowned Sparrows, aside from making me think that I would love to get a lens with a bit more reach, also demonstrates the miracle of light: The right amount and “temperature” of sunlight can turn a fairly ordinary photo into something quite interesting (at least to me). I like the background created by the blue sky and the richness of the colouring of the birds.

Taken at Jericho Beach Park in Vancouver, BC, Canada on November 8, 2014 with a handheld Nikon D5200 and AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED  (ISO 400, 300mm, f/5.6, 1/1600). Not baited, called in or set up.
