Black Oystercatcher at the Seawall in Stanley Park

BLOY-Stanley_Park-2014_12_25

Although this is a severely cropped photo of a Black Oystercatcher taken along the Seawall (southern portion) in Vancouver’s Stanley Park, it is still relatively sharp and detailed. And I really like these birds – although they are fairly common in this region, they are seen only infrequently and they have that great big red bill and those yellow eyes with a red eye ring.

Taken with a handheld Nikon D5200 and AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED (ISO 800, 300mm, f/5.6, 1/1000). Not baited, called in or set-up.
