Lifer: Mountain Bluebird (male), seen on Locarno Beach!!!

I’m slotting this special blog post between my regularly scheduled items to inform you, faithful reader, that I got a very good look at a beautiful life bird this morning: This male Mountain Bluebird was hunting for insects on Vancouver’s Locarno Beach! This seems to be outside of its normal stomping grounds, but I suppose it was migrating from its Californian wintering grounds to northern B.C./Yukon/Alaska. Regardless, I am thrilled to have spotted this lovely gentleman, completely by accident, I might add…

This photo, which was severely cropped for this blog, was taken with a handheld Nikon D5200 and AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED (ISO 3200, 300mm, f/6.3, 1/1600).
