European Robin

European robin | Rouge-gorge familier | Erithacus rubecula: From a photographer’s perspective, I have always liked this little European bird because it can be so photogenic. I wish the bird above had opted to land on a nearby branch, but that was not the case. Please note also that the bird below is an immature. Both photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D5200 and AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED. Not baited, called in or set up.

  • Top (August 16, 2015): Taken close to Gillespie Park Ecology Centre in London, U.K. (ISO 1100 | 300mm | f/5.6 | 1/500, cropped for composition).
  • Bottom (August 25, 2015): Taken in Berlin’s Zehlendorf neighbourhood (ISO 1600 | 300mm | f/5.6 | 1/160, cropped for composition).
