Red-breasted Sapsucker (male) at SFU

Red-breasted Sapsucker (male) | Pic à poitrine rouge | Sphyrapicus ruber: This beautiful male was foraging for food on a stand of trees inside the grounds of Simon Fraser Univesrity’s Academic Quadrangle building in Burnaby (British Columbia), Canada. As you can see in the photo above, this tree seemed to be a favourite with the woodpeckers.

Both photos taken on November 3, 2015 with a handheld Nikon D5200 and AF-S Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED. Not baited, called in or set up.
