Ring-necked Duck (female and male)

DSC_1113

Ring-necked Duck (female and male) | Fuligule à collier | Aythya collaris: I really like that in the photo above, the female almost looks like it is floating on a mirror. I am also pleased with the sharpness of the photo, in spite of the lacklustre light.

Both photos taken on February 13, 2016 in Jericho Park, Vancouver (British Columbia), Canada with a handheld Nikon D5200 and AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR. Not baited, called in or set up.

  • Top: Female, ISO 1600 | 500mm | f/5.6 | 1/500, cropped for composition
  • Bottom: Male, ISO 1600 | 500mm | f/5.6 | 1/320, cropped for composition
